Global ICPF History
ICPF began from a burden to minister among university students, especially through prayer, Scripture, discipleship, and Gospel witness. Its early story is connected to student gatherings in Kerala, India, and to leaders who believed the next generation needed spaces to encounter Jesus deeply.
Some historical numbers and regional claims have changed over time, so this page keeps the durable story: prayerful beginnings, student formation, campus ministry, and a widening vision beyond one region.

1973
Student camps in Kerala
Full Gospel Student Camps were held at Charalkunnu, Kerala, under the leadership of Prof. Mathew P. Thomas and others who carried a burden for students.
1980
Inter Collegiate Prayer Fellowship named
After prayer, discussion, and student conference deliberation, the ministry became known as Inter Collegiate Prayer Fellowship.
1982
Campus missionary work grows
The ministry moved from volunteer-only efforts toward fuller campus missionary work and continued developing prayer groups, Bible studies, retreats, and student leadership.
Later
A wider student ministry vision
ICPF's student ministry vision later extended beyond India through camps, retreats, prayer groups, and Bible study spaces in several regions, including Canada.
What This Means for Canada Now
ICPF Canada carries this same student-focused vision in a Canadian context. The work is expressed through gatherings, prayer, discipleship, worship, outreach, mentoring, and online touchpoints for students and young adults.
The goal is not to preserve a name for its own sake. The goal is to help young people know Jesus, grow in community, and live faithfully where they study, work, and serve.
